The Art of Not Setting Goals (and still feeling the sense of achievement)
How do you feel when you read ‘this is the time of the year to design your year, your new you, and starting by setting goals….’?.
Me? I freak out. The only idea that I need to reach something and that I have a deadline to make will make my stress levels skyrocket.
So this year again, I am committing to not set goals, but commit to doing this instead. And this is setting an intention!
By setting an intention, I free myself from any pressure to perform, there is enough of that already! When I declare to myself that I intend to do xyz or to be this or that, I make a commitment to myself and myself only, I don’t have to be accountable to anyone outside myself, in a nutshell, I am the boss of me.
And I will give you an example here.
My intention is year is to be a better human being, every day. It sounds simple but it ain’t really, because 1/ I need to define for myself what this means and 2/ I need to be clear how I measure my progress and what kind of leeway I will give myself. So I know it will be an everyday exercise of trying and failing and trying and doing better.
Now your turn… what do you commit to this coming year? Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and let’s discuss how I can help you get there!
